About the intervention

In teams of 3-5, ideate worst start-up ideas and pitch them to a panel of more senior students, tutors and/or lecturers. Award prizes for Best Team Roast, 'Dankest' Start-up, and Audience's Unpopular Choice and met out punishments for teams with good ideas.

How to set it up.

  • Be thoughtful about team distribution to ensure max new connections are made e.g. group seniors with freshers, or ensure every team has members from a different departments.

  • Choose a theme to ideate around to speed up the process and maximise the laughs.

  • Prepare enough markers, large sheets of paper, post-it notes, and drinks for everyone.

What to do during.

  • Give teams an hour to ideate and an additional 30 minutes to create visual aids to present their ideas, this could be a slide show, a skit, or simply a paper chart.

  • Give each team 3 minutes to pitch their ideas.

  • The judging panel should roast the idea and met out punishments such as "tell me a joke", "tell me you love bread in your native language, make it sexy", or drink a tequila shot.
