About the intervention

A fun icebreaker to play! One person says a random word and the rest of the group take turns to come up with words starting with the last letter of the previous one.

How to set it up.

No preparation needed.

What to do during.

In-person

  • Gather everyone in a circle

  • One person says a random word

  • The next person (going either clockwise or anti-clockwise) says another word, which starts with the last letter in the previous word. Keep going on until someone gets stuck. That person must perform a penalty

  • Start the game again with that person, and repeat the whole process

Remote

  • Start a zoom/Teams call. The facilitator could randomly write the names of the participants in a list and share it on the screen

  • The first person in the list says a random word

  • The next person (going down the list) says another word, which starts with the last letter in the previous word

  • After the last person in the list says a word, the game will continue from the first person. Keep going on until someone gets stuck. That person could sing a silly song in front of the group

  • Start the game again with that person, and repeat the whole process.

How you can mix it up ...

Losers: Singing a silly song could be replaced by any interesting punishments, like dancing, or changing Zoom background into something silly.

Themes: There could be a specific theme for the words, such as sports, music, movies, food, or words related to Imperial.
